Smooth access to the Brazilian market for electrical goods

Brazil is the largest economy in Latin America and the 6th economy in the world. Its economy is growing fast. Furthermore, with the upcoming World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016, which will both take place in Brazil, the country's infrastructure has improved significantly and this has had a favourable impact on the demand for imported industrial and consumer products.

DEKRA Certification BV is now accredited – based on ISO/IEC Guide 65 and its interpretations by IAF and IAAC – to conduct assessments (audits) and grant the conformity certification of electrical products for export to Brazil. We can also issue the well-known INMETRO mark.

According to Brazilian law, all electrical products are required by law to carry the mark of INMETRO – Brazil’s National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology, which ensures the quality and safety of goods and services. At DEKRA we work closely with INMETRO and can offer local testing and registration to comply with Brazilian regulations.

A wide range of products require INMETRO certification. The mandatory scope includes consumer appliances, medical devices, IT equipment, plugs, circuit breakers and ballasts, while the voluntary scope includes power tools and audio & video equipment. Medical equipment has special registration requirements.
