Chile: Automatic Interrupters in electrical products require a certificate of Approval

Certificate of Approval needed prior to marketing, see resolution No. 40, 2018

On 11 December, Chile's Ministry of Energy enacted two Resolutions, No. 39 and No. 40, declaring that high-pressure cleaners, portable coolers and automatic interrupters for domestic use require a certificate of approval prior to being marketed in the country. The Ministry of Energy is required to establish, by resolution, a list of electrical products, machines, instruments, equipment, and appliances that require a certificate of approval or respective energy consumption label, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 18,410.

The Resolutions of 11 December require that high-pressure cleaners which produce between 2.5 MPa and 35 MPa, portable coolers and automatic interrupters for domestic use have a certificate of approval from a certification body recognised by the Superintendence of Electricity and Fuel (SEC) before they are commercialised in Chile.

The Resolutions came into force on 28 December 2018.
