Ukraine: technical regulations on energy labelling for air conditioners

The Resolution No. 360, 2017, will enter into force 6 months after its official publication.

The Resolution No. 360 was adopted on 24 May 2017 and is modelled on EU Regulation 626/2011, which implements EU Directive 2010/30/EU on labelling for energy-related products. It defines the requirements for the labelling and the provision of supplementary product information for electric mains-operated air conditioners for cooling or heating with a rated capacity of ≤ 12 kW marketed in Ukraine. The measure is closely aligned with its European counterpart both in form and content, and as such prescribes the following requirements to be observed by suppliers:

  • Provision of a printed label for each air conditioner respecting energy efficiency classes as set out in Annex 2;
  • Supply of product fiche;
  • Making available of technical documentation;
  • Display of energy efficiency class where an advertisement for a specific model of an air conditioner discloses energy-related or price information;
  • Supply of instructions for use.

Air conditioners at the point of sale should bear the label provided by suppliers on the outside of the front or top of the appliance, in such a way as to be clearly visible. Air conditioners offered for sale, hire or hire purchase where the end-user cannot be expected to see the product displayed, are marketed with the information provided by suppliers in accordance with Annexes 4 and 5.

Air conditioners, including single duct and double duct air conditioners, placed on the market after date of entry into force of this Resolution must display the labels indicated for the relevant energy classes and from 1 January 2019, revised labels to be applied to air conditioners other than single and double duct types.

Products already in circulation on the market are granted a six month transitional period to comply with the requirements of the regulation.
