Regulation nr. 32/2016 is approved

The Chinese Government has published on January 2016, the regulation nr 32/2016 approved (Order No. 32, 2016) with the Measures for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products; it is also known as China RoHS 2.

China RoHS 2 will enter into force on 1 July 2016, upon which the previous China RoHS which was regulated by the Management Methods for Controlling Pollution by Electronic Information Products, Order No. 39, 2006 will be withdrawn on the same day.

China RoHS 2 covers electrical and electronic products, which are dependent on electric current or electromagnetic fields to work, or to generate or transmit current and are designed for use with a voltage rating not exceeding 1000 Volt for alternating current and 1500 Volt for direct current and its accessory parts.

A list of specific products is not provided in the text, which gives this definition quite a large scope.

The order restricts the use of the following six hazardous substances in electrical equipment namely:

                                                                        Max
1.Lead and its compounds                                   0,1%
2.Mercury and its compounds                              0,1%
3.Cadmium and its compounds                            0,01%
4.Hexavalent chromium compounds                     0,1%
5.Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)                        0,1%
6.Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)             0,1%

New labelling requirements also apply which state that manufacturers and importers must provide information on the hazardous substances on the label to their electrical products. This information must comply with the national standard and must include the name of the hazardous substance, and information on the recycling of the products.

The related information must be placed in the product manual where there is insufficient room on the product label.

It is important to know how to use the green and/or orange label

It is important to notice there won’t be a certificate for RoHs. Test Report is well required.

DEKRA can help you to check If this regulation is applicable to your products, Please provide the BOM (Bild of Materials); our RoHS experts team will check if it is applicable, If testing is required then our Chemical lab to quote the service first. Samples can also be delivered to any of our labs located in Germany or China.
