The European Union has published 2 more implementing regulations, which update ErP directive 2009/125/EC

Commission regulation EU No. 1016/2010 has set ecodesign requirements for household dishwashers, which will become into force on 1 December 2011. The regulation sets requirements for energy efficiency, cleaning efficiency and drying efficiency.

Starting from December 1 2011 all dishwashers need to achieve an energy efficiency of less than 71, thus complying with at least energy efficiency class A, according to recently published energy labelling regulations. This requirement does not apply to dishwashers with a rated capacity of 10 place settings and a width of 45 cm or less, which need to achieve an energy efficiency of less than 80 and energy efficiency class B, respectively. For all dishwashers cleaning efficiency must exceed 1.12. These requirements will be strengthened after 2 years.

Commission regulation EU No. 1015/2010 has also set ecodesign requirements for household washing machines, which will become into force on 1 December  2011. The regulation sets requirements for energy efficiency, washing efficiency and water consumption. Starting from 1 December  2011 all washing machines need to achieve an energy efficiency of less than 68, thus complying with at least energy efficiency class A, according to recently published energy labelling regulations. Water consumption shall be less than 56 l/cycle for a rated capacity of 3 kg and less than 70l/cycle for a rated capacity of 7 kg, respectively. These requirements will be strengthened after 2 years. Combined washer-driers are excluded.
